Parliament passes probe into Fenaka corruption allegations

The Parliament has passed a resolution to investigate alleged corrupt practices by Fenaka Corporation Limited in projects undertaken in Addu City. The resolution, passed by a majority vote, mandates the police to investigate potential money laundering related to these projects. An audit report highlighted that projects were executed in a manner detrimental to the company, with outstanding bills amounting to MVR 77 million. This decision comes amidst ongoing investigations into past government corruption, while significant corruption issues in the current government's state-owned companies, including Fenaka, have also surfaced without adequate action.
